At Artisan Submission Grappling, we offer a diverse range of classes designed to cater to both beginners and seasoned martial artists. Our classes are structured to maximize learning and improvement in a supportive setting.
The main brazilian jiujitsu instuctor is Jacob Nickoson. He is a first degree black belt under Jorge Gurgel. Jake has over a decade of teaching experience working with grapplers and fighters of all ages.
Jake Halsey has over 10 years of competitive combat sports experience between bjj, muay thai, mma, and boxing. He also has over 8 years of experience coaching both adults and kids mixed martial arts.
Our 4-week Kid’s Intro Program is designed to help new students start with confidence. Your child will learn the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, including academy rules, how to wear their uniform, simple warm-ups, and foundational movements, so they feel comfortable and prepared. With pre-registration, each child receives their first gi for FREE, and by the end of the program they’re ready to seamlessly transition into our regular kid’s classes without feeling confused or out of place. (Ages 5-12)

Our No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu classes focus on a systematic approach jiu-jitsu and grappling. Training emphasizes positional awareness, transitions, and learning to solve problems as situations change. The environment is structured and welcoming for beginners, while still providing the depth and challenge experienced students and competitors need to continue improving. Whether your goal is fitness, self-defense, or competition, no-gi training at Artisan is about building reliable skills and steady progress on the mat. (Ages 12 and up)
